Former WH Smith boss Kate Swan has been named the new Chief Executive of SSP, operator of airport and railway station outlets.Swan, who left WH Smith two weeks ago after nine years with the stationary retailer, will succeed Andrew Lynch, who left after nine years.SSP runs outlets for companies including Starbucks, Upper Crust and M&S Simply Food. It recorded sales of £1.7bn last year.During her time at WH Smith, Swann was credited for turning business around by slashing costs and growing the company's international and travel division businesses. In her first year, the company suffered a £135m annual loss while last year its profit reached £102m.Lynch said: "I am now keen to pursue new ventures and I am sure the business will benefit from the 'fresh eyes' of a new chief executive officer."RD
