British Airways and Iberia owner International Airlines Group (IAG) has ordered 20 Airbus revamped short-haul aircraft for an undisclosed sum.IAG said it had converted 20 A320neo options into a firm order to add to the 120 Airbus single-aisle aircraft it already flies, which range from the smallest A318 to the biggest A321.Airbus said the deal would sustain several thousand aviation jobs in the UK, where the wings are designed and made. It also contributes some £40m to the British economy. In August 2013, IAG said that, as part of an order for up to 120 Airbus A320 aircraft from its Spanish budget carrier Vueling, it had also secured 100 A320neo options. The A320 has the widest cabin of any single aisle jet and Airbus said the upgraded Neo adds productivity, 15% fuel savings and up to 950 kilometres of added range. To date, firm orders for the A320neo have hit more than 2,800 jets.PW
