Electrocomponents Names Peter Johnson Chairman

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Electrocomponents PLC (ECM.LN), a distributor of electronics and maintenance products, said Friday it has appointed Peter Johnson Chairman, following the retirement of Helmut Mamsch at the recent AGM. MAIN FACTS: -Johnson will become Chairman on Oct. 1 and, in the meantime, Rupert Soames will continue to serve as Acting Chairman. -Johnson is Chairman of DS Smith PLC (SMDS.LN), a international producer of paper and packaging materials and distributor of office products. -Shares at 0907 GMT unchanged at 225.4 pence.
