(Sharecast News) - Freight and logistics company DX Group announced the reopening of a former Tuffnells Parcels Express depot in Stafford on Monday.

The AIM-traded firm said the facility, on the Beacon Business Park northeast of Stafford's town centre, spanned 15,190 square feet.

It represented a significant addition to its parcels network within the DX Express division, which specialises in secure and tracked deliveries for businesses and consumers.

The board said the reopening marked a milestone in its expansion efforts, as it acquired 15 depots from the administrator of Tuffnells in late June.

With the Stafford depot back in operation, 13 former Tuffnells sites had been successfully reopened under DX Group's management.

The newly reopened depot was expected to enhance operational efficiencies by reducing stem mileage and carbon emissions, in line with the company's commitment to environmental responsibility.

Additionally, the Stafford depot would contribute to the overall improvement of customer service levels, the board claimed.

"The opening of the Stafford depot means that we have now reopened 13 of the 15 depots that we took on from Tuffnells' administrators in late June," said chief executive officer Paul Ibbetson.

"It increases the capacity and capability of our express parcels operation, which is growing strongly, and delivers further efficiencies, environmental and customer service benefits.

"Expanding and improving the depot network underpins the continued successful delivery of our growth plans, and we look forward to reporting on further openings over the forthcoming months."

At 0821 GMT, shares in DX Group were up 1.16% at 43.5p.
