Directors dealings: BAE Systems director takes profits

(ShareCast News) - BAE Systems's group director for business development took advantage of a two-day spike in the shares of the aerospace and defence engineer to take some profits.On 10 November, Alan Garwood sold 33,000 shares at an individual price of 605p each, walking off with £199,650.Between the close of trading on 8 November and that on 10 November the company's stock rocketed from 5,480p to 6,315p, as Donald Trump's surprise presidential victory drove investors into equities and out of bonds in anticipation of a large boost to government spending.Echoing that view, in a research note published on the day after the election analysts Dvid H Perry and Mallini Chauhan at JP Morgan lifted their target price on BAE stock from 655p to 675p, pointing out to clients how Trump had pledged to increase US defence spending and to stop subsidising allies' defence.The broker also reiterated its 'overweight' stance on BAE Systems."Defence stocks are an attractive safe haven in a world of weak GDP growth and growing political uncertainty," they said.In the same note, they upped their targets on seven other defence sector names in their coverage universe, Chemring, Cobham, Qinetiq, Ultra Electronics, Leonardo and Thales.
