Costain wins 60m-pound rail deal

Construction group Costain has won a five-year 60m-pound deal to repair bridges and stations for UK rail infrastructure provider Network Rail.The so-called framework contract involves civil engineering, track construction, power delivery, signalling, and mechanical and electrical works.Schemes will include underbridge repair and replacement, footbridge construction, major earthworks, and works to tunnels and station platforms and buildings. Costain will also manage a number of sites in Kent. Work will start in April 2014.Chief Executive Andrew Wyllie said: "The appointment reflects the ongoing broadening of our service."PW
