("STREET MOVES: Nomura Names Lehman Vet Lasse To Lead Segment," published at 10:17 a.m. EDT, misspelled Lasser's last name in the headline, and the first and second paragraphs. The correct version follows.) DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Nomura Holdings Inc. (NMR, 8604.TO) announced Alexis Lasser has been hired from Standard Chartered PLC (STAN.LN, 2888.HK) to oversee its private capital market operation in the Americas, where she may run into former colleagues. Nomura acquired Lehman Brothers' (LEHMQ) Asian and European operations for $225 million in September 2008 as the company spiraled into bankruptcy. Lasser spent a dozen years at Lehman, with her last post being head of its private capital markets group. The move comes as the Japanese financial-services company broadens its U.S. franchise into new markets. Nomura said Thursday in a statement that it "has started a significant hiring program" as the expansion is due to complete the end of the year. Lasser will be responsible for private placements across the capital structure from debt to equity. At Standard Chartered, she led its illiquid and private placements group. -By Jodi Xu, Dow Jones Newswires; 212-416-3037;
