Connemara Mining begins preliminary drilling at Inishowen

(ShareCast News) - Connemara Mining began drilling with earnest on its gold licences at Inishowen, County Donegal in Ireland on Friday, with the company announcing the start of a preliminary drilling programme.The drilling programme was following on from trenching at the end of 2015, which returned positive results including 0.8 metres at 7.95 grams of gold per tonne, and 1.1 metres at 1.78 grams of gold per tonne.Four short diamond drill holes would target the positive trenching results at depth and along strike, to assess vein continuity and grade, the AIM-traded company confirmed."The drilling, which starts today in Donegal is the next step on a long road toward a potential commercial gold discovery," Connemara chairman John Teeling commented."The journey can stop at any time. These four holes are to indicate whether the gold bearing rock found in trenching in late 2015 continues at depth and horizontally," he added.Connemara Mining described itself as a diversified exploration company with principal assets in gold, zinc and lead exploration licences in Ireland.It held interests in 35 licences, covering an area of 1,350 square kilometres (521.2 square miles).
