Heavy snow in December kept some film buffs away from Cineworld's cinemas, but the growing popularity of 3D animation films helped the company post a rise in sales over the full year.Total revenues were up by 4.7% over the full year with 3D films such as Toy Story 3 and Alice in Wonderland drawing in the punters. Cineworld's box office market share in Britain climbed to 24.6% for the year from 23.9% in 2009."The December snow falls had a negative impact on both box office and retail revenues during the important festive period as travel to the cinema became very difficult in many areas," the company said. "Despite this, the strong performance from the rest of the year means that we anticipate overall profitability to be within the range of market expectations."The bad weather has eased and a strong pipeline of 3D releases, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and Tintin gives Cineworld confidence for its full-year performance.
