Military decoy specialist Chemring will supply the US Department of Defense with a range of decoy flares in a five-year deal worth up to $804m (£502m).The firm's US unit Kilgore Flares will provide its M206, MJU-7A/B, and MJU-10/B infra-red (IR) flares under an IDIQ (indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity) contract.A first delivery of the flares, used by the US Army and Air Force to protect both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft from the threat of IR guided missiles, is worth $42m will be made in 2010 and the first quarter of 2011.'This contract is the largest ever IDIQ award received by Chemring from the US Department of Defense and underpins our countermeasures business at Kilgore over the next five years,' said boss David Price.
