Military decoy specialist Chemring said its US subsidiary, Non-Intrusive Inspection Technology, has been awarded a contract worth up to $34m to supply specialist radar systems to the Canadian Armed Forces. NIITEK will supply Canadian Armed Forces with its Husky Mounted Detection System Ground Penetrating Radar kits."The HMDS GPR is used by combat engineers on route clearance patrols to locate and detect buried mines and explosives. This is the first contract awarded to NIITEK to support coalition forces, and has a maximum potential value of $34m," Chemring explained in a company statement.Commenting on the deal, Chemring chief executive David Price said, "This contract represents the first export order for NIITEK's HMDS GPR system. HMDS is the only operational ground penetrating radar system currently in operational use, protecting US and coalition forces."
