LONDON (Dow Jones)--U.K.-based energy company Centrica PLC (CNA.LN) is in talks with electricity group International Power PLC (IPR.LN) over the purchase of power stations, the Mail on Sunday reports, without citing sources. Centrica is expected to confirm to the stock market Monday that it has approached the company over the assets, the newspaper adds. The newspaper says discussions are at an early stage and no formal offer has been made. It adds that is currently unclear as to how many stations are involved, or where they are located. Investment banks Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) and UBS AG (UBS) are advising Centrica, the newspaper says. Centrica wasn't immediately available for comment.
