Central Asia Metals reports increase in copper production and sales

Mining and exploration group Central Asia Metals said production and sales of copper at its Kounrad copper recovery plant in Kazakhstan rose in the first quarter.The London-listed company said that copper production in the first quarter rose 23% year-on-year to 2,350 tonnes, driven by an expanded boiler-house capacity which facilitated production during the winter months.The group added that production remained in line with the expected seasonal variations in output as well as with its full-year production target of 13,000 tonnes.Meanwhile, sales of copper in the first three months of the year grew 26% to 2,233 tonnes total copper production output since the start of operations at the end of April 2012 has now exceeded 30,000 tonnes.Central Asia Metals shares were up 5.67% 174.35p at 09:24 on Tuesday.
