Capita and BAE Systems have signed a contract for a strategic partnership which will see the former transform the existing method of IT service delivery for the later's submarine building business in Cumbria.The contract is expected to be worth between £60m and £70m over the next five years to Capita.The contract is with BAE's Maritime - Submarines business, which is currently designing and building the Astute class of nuclear powered attack submarines for the UK Royal Navy.Capita IT Services will deliver an enhanced IT service model across the submarine building business which will be aligned with the wider BAE Systems group IT framework, it explained. This will reduce service charges and deliver higher levels of IT service management performance. Capita's Chief Executive Andy Parker said: "Capita has a strong track record of working with partners to implement new and innovative techniques which deliver real business benefits. "We are delighted to be able to evolve our successful relationship with BAE into a strategic partnership capable of delivering innovation and providing an IT management service fitting of a facility which will build the largest and most advanced submarines ever operated by the Royal Navy."Capita's share price climbed 0.46% to 1,086p by 09:50, while BAE slipped 0.05% to 410.80p.
