(Sharecast News) - Caledonia Mining reported on Friday that an accident took place in the afternoon of 16 February at the Blanket Mine in Zimbabwe, resulting in one mine employee being killed.

The AIM-traded firm said the accident was related to secondary blasting.

"Further details cannot be released pending the outcome of an enquiry into this accident by the relevant authorities," the board said in its statement.

"Caledonia expresses its condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased."

At 1512 GMT, shares in Caledonia Mining Corporation were down 4.91% at 1,017.5p.
