(Sharecast News) - Finance and asset management firm Burford Capital named Kenneth Brause as its next chief financial officer on Friday, effective 3 May.
After working with "a leading executive search firm", Burford undertook "a broad and thorough search" for current CFO Jim Kilman's successor late in 2020.

Following a review of multiple candidates, Burford said Brause had emerged "clearly" as the group's preferred choice, given his "deep prior experience in financial operating roles at other listed specialty finance companies".

Kilman will spend a three-month transition period with Brause before returning to his previous position within the firm as a senior advisor.

Brause will be based in Burford's New York office.

Chief executive Christopher Bogart said: "With Spencer Stuart's assistance, we conducted an extensive search for our new permanent CFO, and Ken stood out as someone with high quality, career-long specialty finance expertise across a range of strategic and operational roles, including wholesale funding markets.

"I believe Burford will benefit from his wide range of experience as we continue our growth trajectory and our ongoing expansion of our US capital markets presence."

As of 0855 BST, Burford shares were up 0.93% at 942.16p.
