Bumper output in August for Ferrexpo

Ukraine-focused iron ore producer Ferrexpo said pellet production in August was the second highest in the company's history at 0.9m tonnes.Reporting on production in the three months to the end of September, Ferrexpo said total pellet production of its own ore increased by 2.8% to 2.33m tonnes in the third quarter from the preceding three-month period's 2.27m tonnes.In the first nine months of 2011, production from the group's own raw materials was 6.73m tonnes, down 0.2% on the 6.74m tonnes in the corresponding period of 2010.Production from purchased raw materials in the third quarter was down by just over a third, however, with the result that total pellet production in the third quarter was barely changed at 2.47m tonnes.--jh --jh
