Specialist healthcare company BTG, which receives an undisclosed royalty on all sales of multiple sclerosis treatment Lemtrada, said Wednesday that the European Commission had approved the product for marketing. The official announcement was made the previous day by Sanofi and its subsidiary Genzyme, in which it said it intends to begin launching the product in the European Union (EU)soon. Lemtrada is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis with active disease defined by clinical or imaging features.The EU approval is the first for Lemtrada globally.
