Fromer Sky boss Tony Ball is to joing telecoms giant BT as as a non-executive director.Ball, currently chairman of German cable TV business Kabel Deutschland, is widely tipped to take the new chief executive job at ITV following executive chairman Michael Grade's decision to move to a part-time role.Ball was chief executive of BSkyB from 1999 to 2003 and will take up his role at BT from 16 July. His appointment seems a coup for BT, which has complained its broadcast arm BT Vision cannot break into the mainstream market because of Sky's dominance and marketing policies."Tony has an outstanding track record of innovation and delivery in the communications industry. As BT focuses on the rich opportunities that are presented by combining entertainment with broadband, his drive, knowledge and experience will prove a tremendous asset to the board," BT's chairman, Sir Michael Rake, said.
