Britvic Q1 revenue up 20%

Soft drinks firm Britvic said total first quarter revenue increased 20% from the same period a year earlier and it remains confident about the outcome for the full year. The maker of Fruit Shoot, Tango and Robinsons said revenue increased to £288.2m in the quarter ended 26 December and it expects an improved performance in the second quarter despite concern about pressures on consumer spending and rising costs."Whilst we expect the consumer and cost environment to remain challenging, we are confident in our ability to compete strongly in the markets in which we operate," the group said in a company statement.Total revenue from its core British operations rose 0.8% to £191.7m in the quarter. Britvic International surged 41.5% to £5.8m. Britvic Ireland fell 8.4% to £42.1m in quarter while Britvic France produced revenue of £48.6m.2011 commodity inflation forecasts remain at 5-6% and Britvic said it expects to recover rising prices through the balance of the year.
