Bramall sells over 20m shares in Lookers

Anthony Bramall, the long-time investor of motor trade investor and non-Executive Director of Lookers, has significantly reduced his stake in the car dealer for 'domestic reasons'. Bramall traded in 20.85m shares at an average price of 99.832p each, banking his family £20.8m. "The company has been informed that the sale was for domestic reasons only and does not alter the continuing support for the company by the Bramall family who believe that the company will continue the excellent growth it has shown over the past few years," Lookers said in a statement. The news came on Thursday, the same day the company announces the acquisition of Shields Automotive, which operates a significant Land Rover dealership in South Glasgow. The acquisition was made for £8.75m, and has been satisfied using its existing bank facilities. Bramall's stake in the group now stands at 73.5m shares, equal to 18.93% of the issued share capital.
