BP warns US appeals court must move to enforce injunction

BP revealed last week that payments for businesses' economic losses in the US, as a result of the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, were about to restart.In a court filing made just before Thanksgiving, the firm said it had been told to expect payments to restart. The payments had been held up since a favourable injunction on October 2nd from the Fifth Circuit appeals court in New Orleans.The US court ordered a stop to payments to businesses which had not "experienced actual injury traceable to loss [from the spill]", the Financial Times reported. BP´s lawyers argued that unless the appeals court moves to enforce the injuction then the compensation for those unjustified business claims will restart. At 11:45 shares of BP were down by 0.8% to 488p. AB
