BP Says It Is Restarting Production At Three Gulf Platforms

HOUSTON (Dow Jones)--BP PLC (BP, BP.LN) said Wednesday it's redeploying workers to three platforms in the Gulf of Mexico that had shut down ahead of Hurricane Alex and that production at the facilities is restarting. BP, one of the largest oil and gas producers in the gulf of Mexico, had shut production at its Atlantis, Mad Dog and Holstein platforms Monday due to the threat of Alex, which is expected to make landfall later in the day or Thursday morning along the U.S.-Mexico border. The platforms "are restarting," said Daren Beaudo, an spokesman for the company. About 26.33% of oil production and about 14.36% of natural-gas production in the Gulf of Mexico has been shut down due to Alex, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement said Wednesday. Chevron Corp. (CVX), Royal Dutch Shell (RDSA), Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM), Apache Corp.
