BP Reports Flaring At Texas City Refinery - Filing

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--BP PLC (BP, BP.LN) reported a flaring event at its Texas City, Texas, oil refinery for a period of 24 hours from an undetermined source, a filing to Texas state environmental regulators said. The event, which began at around 9:45 a.m. CDT on Saturday, sending emissions of benzene and sulfur dioxide to safety flare 2, is under investigation, the report to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality said. A "site wide investigation to determine source in order to stop it," was listed as the action taken on the filing. A company representative was not immediately available for comment.
