By Benoit Faucon Jeffrey Sparshott Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES LONDON (Dow Jones)--BP PLC's (BP) second-quarter results Tuesday will show continued strong operational performance at the U.K. oil major, Chief Executive Tony Hayward said last week in an internal memo to the company's staff. "Safe, reliable operations remain our No. 1 priority--thank you for your continued and relentless focus on delivering this, each and every day," Hayward said in a memo seen by Dow Jones Newswires. Analysts expect BP's report to show strong cash flow but also substantial costs from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill that has poured millions of barrels of oil into U.S. waters. BP's board of directors is negotiating the departure of its embattled chief executive, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday. The BP board is scheduled to meet Monday to discuss and approve Hayward's departure, the paper said. -By Benoit Faucon and Jeffrey Sparshott, Dow Jones Newswires; +44 77 601 777 36; [email protected] (END) Dow Jones Newswires July 26, 2010 02:37 ET (06:37 GMT)
