BP CEO Asked To Testify Before Senate On Lockerbie - FT

LONDON (Dow Jones)--BP PLC (BP) Chief Executive Tony Hayward has been invited to give evidence to the U.S. Senate foreign relations committee on the release of convicted Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, the Financial Times reports on its website Thursday. Some in the U.S. have concerns that the U.K. oil major lobbied for Megrahi's release in an attempt to win business in his home country of Libya. The interest in any role BP played in Megrahi's release has been reignited by company's part in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The two events have dominated U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron's visit to the U.S. this week.
