Babcock International has confirmed it has been named preferred bidder on a 21-year contract with the London Fire Brigade.The FTSE 100 company successfully took over the management of the LFB's fleet of vehicles on an interim contract in November 2012 and the new long-term contract is expected to become operational on November 13th this year.As part of its side of the deal, Babcock will invest in operational premises at an existing site in Ruislip and at a new facility in Greenwich to provide state-of-the-art facilities for the management and maintenance of the fleet and greater community engagement. This contract comes on top of Babcock's 25-year contract with the LFB, begun in 2011, to develop and deliver enhanced training programmes and training facilities.Babcock Chief Executive Peter Rogers said: "We are delighted to have been chosen as preferred bidder for this contract, which reflects our ability to provide market-leading support to the emergency services.
