Engineering support services group Babcock has been named as a preferred bidder for conventional plain line track works for Network Rail.Babcock's Rail business has won work across three of the seven geographic lots for the track renewals, namely Western, Wales and Wessex, Scotland and LNW South.The contracts, worth £200m over a five-year period ending in March 2019, form part of Network Rail's £375m track renewal programme."Building on our long-term relationship with Network Rail, we are delighted to have been selected as preferred bidder and delivery partner for this major programme of track renewals work which will help to provide a more reliable railway for passengers and freight," said Babcock's Chief Executive Peter Rogers.BC
