Belén Romana García has been appointed as Aviva's independent non-executive director, the insurance group confirmed on Monday.Garcia, the former head of the Spanish Treasury, joined the FTSE 100 group on 26 June, the company said in a short statement."Belén's experience as both an executive and a non-executive in the financial services sector, and in international policy-making and regulation will be invaluable to Aviva," said group chairman Sir Adrian Montague."She is a highly respected former civil servant and a business leader who will make a strong contribution to Aviva and I welcome her to the board."Aviva shares were down 1.86% to 501.00p at 12:35 on Monday.
