Asos appoints Helen Ashton as CFO

Online retailer Asos appointed Helen Ashton as its new chief financial officer, replacing Nick Beighton who has been promoted to chief operating officer.Ashton has held management positions at Barclaycard, Lloyds, Asda and Capquest. She will take up her role in September.Asos chief executive Nick Robertson said: "Helen brings an unusual combination of deep financial experience, combined with her track record in consumer facing and retail businesses."He added that Ashton has been involved "in significant change management situations and has demonstrated great leadership capability", which could help the company to recover from its 10% fall in profits before tax during the first half of the year.Earlier in March, the retailer impressed with an acceleration in sales growth in the second quarter, but said margins had fallen sharply due to price investments and the roll-out of 'zonal pricing'.
