US reinsurance giant Aon is set to occupy a large chunk of The Leadenhall Building in the heart of London's insurance district, and make the bottom 10 floors of the building's office section its new UK headquarters. The US company, perhaps best known in England as the shirt sponsor of football club Manchester United, has signed an agreement with the building's joint owners, British Land and Oxford Properties, to occupy 191,000 square feet of the available 610,000 square feet of space.Aon also has options to take up to a further 85,000 square feet of space."This agreement demonstrates the high level of interest being shown by major occupiers for this iconic London office building and the world-class accommodation it will offer," claimed Chris Grigg, chief executive of British Land."Such a significant investment confirms Aon Corp's commitment to the UK, and indeed London, as a strategically important and integral part of Aon's future," said Aon's chief executive officer, Robert Brown. ---jh
