Anglo American appoints new South African Coal chief

Mining giant Anglo American has appointed a new chief of its South African Coal business following Godfrey Gomwe's decision to retire.Themba Mkhwanazi, who is currently Rio Tinto's Regional General Manager for the Americas, has held a number of senior roles within the resources industry. Seamus French, overall head of the company's Coal business, said: "Themba brings extensive international operating experience gained across his two decades in the resources industry, including 16 years in South Africa and more recently in the US. "Themba's leadership and technical expertise will be instrumental in helping us deliver the full potential from our consolidated global coal business."Shares were 0.87% higher at 14:25 Wednesday.NR
