Anadarko: 4 Gulf Deepwater Production Facilities Shut-In Due To Alex

HOUSTON (Dow Jones)--Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (APC) said Wednesday it has shut in four deepwater production facilities in the western Gulf of Mexico due to Hurricane Alex, which is expected to make landfall late in the day or early Thursday. The Houston-area company didn't disclosed the amount of production affected due to the storm, but said it will redeploy personnel to these facilities once weather conditions improve. Chevron Corp. (CVX), Royal Dutch Shell (RDSA), Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM), BP PLC (BP), Apache Corp. (APA) and ConocoPhillips (COP) have also shut down production ahead of the storm. As of Tuesday, about 24.74% of oil production and about 9.38% of natural gas production in the Gulf of Mexico has been shut-in due to Alex, according to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation, and Enforcement.
