Aminex, the oil and gas firm with operations in Africa and the US, said that operations at its Nyuni-2 exploration well in the Indian Ocean have made "satisfactory progress" despite some delays. The rig at the well, being drilled from Nyuni island off the Tanzanian coast, was shut down for eight days as the firm had to place damaged equipment. However, the firm said that 9 5/8" casing is now being run to the current total measured depth of 2,945m. "Once the well has been safely cased to this point, drilling will resume towards its target."Nyuni-2 will be the fourth exploration well drilled in the Nyuni area by Aminex as operator. Two of the previous wells discovered gas in commercial quantities. The well will target the same Neocomian standstones which form the reservoirs in the nearby Songo-Songo gas gield and in the company's own Kiliwani North gas field reservoir, the group said.Shares were 2.08% lower at 5.88p by 09:28.BC
