(Sharecast News) - Tissue-healing technology developer Advanced Medical Solutions has tapped Liz Shanahan to take over as chair from Peter Allen.

Shanahan, a current non-executive director of the group, will succeed Allen on 1 January 2024, following a handover period. Allen had previously signalled his intention to step down after 10 years with the group.

The AIM-listed group noted that Shanahan was a life sciences entrepreneur with extensive experience advising leading global pharmaceutical and healthcare organisations on their communications.

She currently serves as a non-executive director of Inspiration Healthcare and Celadon Pharmaceuticals and was previously a non-executive director at UDG Healthcare until its £2.8bn takeover in August 2021.

Chief executive Chris Meredith said: "We look forward to welcoming Liz as Chair in January. Her many years of life sciences experience and significant contribution to AMS since joining as a non-executive director made her the ideal candidate to now lead the board from 2024 onwards. Having worked with Liz for the past years, I know the benefit, insight and strategic guidance Liz will bring as we work closely together to execute the AMS growth strategy."

As of 1000 BST, AMS shares were up 1.49% at 204.0p.
