US open: Stocks rebound as investors look past renewed Middle East tensions

(Sharecast News) - Major indices pushed higher early on Monday despite another round of US-Iran military exchanges over the weekend.

As of 1450 BST, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.30% at 52,300.39, while the S&P 500 advanced 0.71% to 7,510.91, and the Nasdaq Composite came out of the gate 1.09% firmer at 25,799.18.

The Dow opened 153.97 points higher on Monday, taking a bite out of losses recorded in the previous session.

However, sentiment improved early on Monday after Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei signalled that diplomatic channels between Washington and Tehran remained open, saying intermediaries were still exchanging messages and that talks could continue "based on national interests".

Crude prices were in the red after the opening bell, with West Texas Intermediate futures down 0.67% at $81.94 a barrel, while Brent futures were 0.42% lower at $87.73 a barrel. US Treasury yields also ticked higher, with the benchmark ten‑year note rising just over two basis points to 4.571%.

In the corporate space, Domino's Pizza traded higher in early action after posting a surprise rise in US comparable sales, up 0.1% in Q2 versus expectations for a 0.3% decline.

Elsewhere, AMC Entertainment reported record quarterly revenues and adjusted EBITDA in its second‑quarter update, with the cinema chain revealing sales had risen 14.2% year‑on‑year to $1.59bn, while adjusted underlying earnings surged 69.6% to $321.4m - the highest levels in the company's 106‑year history.

No major data points were scheduled for release on Monday.
