U.S. stocks ended mixed Monday as the Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 20 points to 10191 and the Standard & Poor's 500 fell 2 points to 1090, but the Nasdaq Composite rose a fraction to 2244. Among the companies whose shares are actively trading in the session are Korn/Ferry International (KFY), AtriCure Inc. (ATRC), FelCor Lodging Trust (FCH) and Trubion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (TRBN). Korn/Ferry again swung to a profit after a prior-year loss, benefiting from a surge in revenue and relief from heavy restructuring charges. The executive recruiter also beat its earnings guidance. Shares were up 5.9% at $14.75 after hours, as the staffing firm also predicted current-quarter profit mostly above expectations. Medical-device maker AtriCure's shares rose 17% to $6.13 in after-hours trading as U.S. regulators cleared a heart device developed by the company. (LNC, $27.41, +$1.05, +3.98%), one of three insurers to get a U.S. bailout, said it will repay the government with a planned sale of $335 million in stock and $750 million in debt. That is ahead of the schedule Chief Executive Dennis Glass had first announced when he predicted Lincoln could repay by end of 2010. Lincoln lags Hartford Financial (HIG, $24.88, +$0.87, +3.62%), which paid back the U.S. in March, but will be out of the program ahead of American International Group Inc. (JBLU, $6.63, +$0.13, +2.00%) climbed Monday on hopes the airline could benefit from a pilot strike at fellow discount carrier Spirit Airlines Inc. Analysts said JetBlue and AMR Corp. (AMR, $8.45, +$0.19, +2.30%), parent of American Airlines, are the two carriers most likely to benefit from Spirit's woes as they have flights that overlap with Spirit's service areas. Cablevision Systems Corp. (CVC, $24.57, +$1.17, +5.00%) confirmed its acquisition of Bresnan Communications for $1.37 billion, and the company said it authorized $500 million for share repurchases in an effort to assuage shareholders' concerns about the deal. BP PLC (BP, $30.67, -$3.30, -9.71%) fell again Monday on more concerns about the extent of its liabilities as it struggles to contain the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
