Tissue Regenix surged on Thursday after the launch of its skincare device DermaPure in the US following the signing of an exclusive government supplier partnership with TASSMA for the distribution of the treatment. The agreement will allow the firm to target the Department of Veteran's Affairs Healthcare System and the numerous branches of the US military, a market that is worth $1.4m a year, it said. DermaPure works by removing the DNA and cells from donated skin to leave "a natural biological scaffold" that can be placed in the wound to aid natural healing by attracting the patient's own cells to the wound area.Trials have shown the treatment to have significant effects on the size and healing of chronic wounds. Greg Bila, the President of Tissue Regenix Wound Care, said: "Commercial production and distribution of the DermaPure is a significant step forward for Tissue Regenix. This paves the way for the development of other human tissue based medical treatments."DermaPure is initially being targeted at acute care patients with diabetic foot ulcers, a condition which affects around 600,000 people in the US each year, and patients with venous leg ulcers, which currently affect around 2.5m people in the US. We see this as a large market that is in need of medical innovation, which is exactly what DermaPure provides."The group also reported the continued expansion of its US distribution network, which has more than 60 reps covering 80% of the country.
