Thursday preview: Burberry, Eurozone GDP, Fed's Yellen

Luxury goods giant Burberry Group will help kick off Thursday's show with their interim results. Burberry will unveil its first-half figures which are expected to show earnings before interest and tax came to £182m, according to analysts at Berenberg. First-half sales are anticipated to have risen 17% to £1.03bn.Chief Executive Angela Ahrendts recently announced her departure from the fashion house to join Apple. Creative Director Christopher Bailey will take over the reins.Carphone Warehouse and Serco are also among the FTSE 350 companies to release earnings.Turning to macroeconomic data later on, Eurozone economic growth figures will be announced. Eurozone gross domestic product (GDP) for the third quarter is expected to have risen just 0.1%, compared to the previous quarter's 0.3% gain.Evidence of slowing recovery might support European Central Bank President Mario Draghi's case for last week's surprise interest rate cut from 0.5% to 0.25%.At the time of the rate cut Draghi cited risks of deflation that would hamper economic growth.In the US, the spotlight will shine on Federal Reserve Vice Chair Janet Yellen who will appear before the Senate Banking Committee before being expected to be confirmed as the new Chair to take over from Ben Bernanke. Yellen is President Barack Obama's choice to head the central bank.
