LONDON (Dow Jones)--U.K. supermarket giant Tesco PLC (TSCO.LN) Friday said it has no plans to open a standalone clothing store in the U.K., contrary to an earlier report. "We're always looking for new development opportunities, but we have no specific plans for an F&F store in the UK," a Tesco spokesman told Dow Jones Newswires. Fashion trade magazine Drapers reported earlier Friday that the company--the world's fourth-biggest retailer by sales--was to open a clothing store in London's West End shopping district and brand the shop F&F after Tesco's own-label clothing range. The magazine cited Terry Green, a consultant to Tesco and former head of its clothing division. -By Simon Zekaria, Dow Jones Newswires; +44 207 842-9410; [email protected] (END) Dow Jones Newswires July 09, 2010 05:01 ET (09:01 GMT)
