Electricity provider Scottish & Southern Energy posted a 36% increase in half year adjusted pre-tax profit as it hiked its dividend 6.1%.Adjusted pre-tax profit rose to £410.5m for the six months to 30 September 2009from £302.6m before. Revenue was down 12.5% at £8.04bn from £9.19bn the same time before. The group's interim dividend was increased by 6.1% to 21p a share.SSE, who plugged in 150,000 additional UK energy customer accounts in six months to 30 September, said it was on track to deliver a full year increase in adjusted pre-tax profits in the moderate single digits. The group also said it will submit a planning application to develop the UK's biggest carbon dioxide capture trial facility at 5 megawatts at its Ferrybridge coal-fired power station in Yorkshire.
