Sula Iron & Gold, the AIM-listed multi-commodity exploration company focused in Sierra Leone, has seen no incidences of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) among its workforce but is "ready to act" if the situation deteriorates. The comments came after Sierra Leone-based London Mining imposed travel restrictions on staff due to an EVD outbreak earlier in the week, predominantly in the east of the country close to the Guinea border.Sula attempted to reassure investors on Friday, saying that there are a number of large-scale miners in the region such as Rio Tinto and ArcelorMittal who have not had to evacuate staff because of EVD.Nevertheless, the most recent reports suggest that over 200 people in Guinea have now died from the spread of the virus.Sula, which operates in Sierra Leone at its Ferensola Project, said it is not aware of any incidence of EVD in the surrounding region, but continues to watch the situation via the World Health Organisation and the Foreign & CommonwealthOffice.Chief Executive Nick Warrell said: "We are monitoring the EVD situation very closely and are ready to act should the current risk assessment warrant new action from our company."BC
