Serco wins Plymouth hospital deal

Outsource giant Serco has been awarded a contract worth £140m over 10 years to provide support services to the Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.The services include providing a helpdesk, ward housekeeping, porters, cleaning and staff catering, at the city's Derriford Hospital and the Royal Eye Infirmary.The deal comes the week after Serco was selected by the UK Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as preferred bidder for contracts worth up to £500m. The contracts involve providing support including career planning, advice on job searches and debt, as well as top-up training and confidence building.
