Precision instruments and controls group Spectris has bolstered the electronic and electrical equipment sector today after hailing a strong start to the year.Trading during the year so far for the FTSE 250 firm has been good, assisted by a healthy order book. Like-for-like sales were up by 21% in the four months to the end of April from the same period a year ago, the company said. Utility firm Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) is providing a drag in the electricity sector.SSE has been in the news this week after being found guilty of misleading customers to switch energy providers.
