Banking is one of the best performing sectors despite mixed results.HSBC leads the sector higher, after saying it is seeing some stabilisation in its bad debts picture, especially in the US, while elsewhere business generally remains strong."Overall, loan impairment charges and other credit risk provisions declined in Q3 2009 from earlier in the year and were at their lowest quarterly level since Q2 2008," HSBC said.A fall in the share price of Barclays, even though the bank remains on course for a record-breaking year after third quarter profits came in close to market forecasts, are not enough to drag the banking sector lower.Vodafone is dragging the mobile phone sector lower.
