Burberry was among the best performers on the FTSE 100 on Tuesday, pulling the personal goods sector higher.The iconic British luxury brand was 4% higher before the close of trade, after its Prorsum brand dazzled the fashion industry at London Fashion Week on Monday.Meanwhile, shares rose in sympathy with Italian peer Prada, which reported that first half profits surged 74% due to strong growth in Asia, a key region for Burberry.Burberry said in July that retail sales soared 49% in the three months to 30 June, helped by strong growth in China, with the new stores acquired in the country last year contributing 20% to the total increase in retail sales. The electronic and electrical equipment sector was the only sector in the red, led lower by XP Power, Renishaw and TT Electronics.
