A slight recovery in the share price of BP has helped lift the oil sector. BP is reportedly hoping to fully stop the oil spill in the US Gulf of Mexico later this week. The group also said that a mile-long tube was funnelling a little more than 1000 barrel a day into a drill ship.Elsewhere in the sector, Enquest, the North Sea oil group recently demerged from Petrofac and Lundin Petroleum, is higher after saying it remains on track to produce approximately 18,000 barrels daily in 2010.Kier is among the companies pulling the construction and materials sector lower. The contractor and housebuilder said it is trading in line with company expectations and is on track to deliver an 'encouraging underlying performance this year.'Top performing sectors so far todayForestry & Paper 4,643.53 +2.16%Mobile Telecommunications 3,182.68 +1.72%Oil & Gas Producers 7,779.04 +1.48%Banks 4,790.46 +1.15%Real Estate Investment Trusts 1,746.93 +1.11%Bottom performing sectors so far todayConstruction & Materials 3,359.49 -1.45%Life Insurance 3,452.08 -1.31%Industrial Metals & Mining 5,449.42 -1.11%Software & Computer Services 646.87 -1.08%Financial Services 4,830.04 -0.95%
