Salamander Energy founder and chief executive James Menzies has spent £41,000 on shares in the south-east Asia-focused oil and gas group. He bought 20,000 shares at 205p a pop.Menzies may have been tempted by the fall in Salamander's share price since he last opened his wallet, buying the same number of shares at 269.5p a time. The share price fall is in line with declines across the oil sector amid a worsening global economic outlook.Menzies spent most of his career with LASMO, an independent exploration and production company, first as a geophysicist in the UK North Sea exploration team and later in Vietnam and Indonesia.Top Director BuysSalamander Energy (SMDR) Director name: Mr James MenziesAmount purchased: 20,000 @ 205.00p Value: £41,000Global Energy Development (GED) Director name: Mr David P QuintAmount purchased: 10,000 @ 106.00p Value: £10,600Top Director SellsPearson (PSON) Director name: Ms Marjorie ScardinoAmount sold: 57,224 @ 1,168.90p Value: £668,891Dunelm Group (DNLM) Director name: Mr David SteadAmount sold: 90,000 @ 465.10p Value: £418,590Pearson (PSON) Director name: Mr Will EthridgeAmount sold: 22,780 @ 1,168.90p Value: £266,275Pearson (PSON) Director name: Ms Rona A FairheadAmount sold: 18,944 @ 1,168.90p Value: £221,436Pearson (PSON) Director name: Mr John MakinsonAmount sold: 18,944 @ 1,168.90p Value: £221,436Pearson (PSON) Director name: Mr Robin FreestoneAmount sold: 16,915 @ 1,168.90p Value: £197,719
