Rolls-Royce To Supply 57 Jet Trainer Aircrafts To India

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Rolls-Royce Group PLC (RR.LN), a global power systems company, said Wednesday it has finalized the contract for the order of an additional 57 Adour-powered Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer aircraft for the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. MAIN FACTS: -The Rolls-Royce engine contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, or HAL, is worth up to GBP200 million and includes the first Adour engines for the Indian Navy, which will operate 17 of the aircraft. -The BAE Systems Hawk will be powered by the Mk871 variant of the Adour which will be assembled in Bangalore, India, in partnership with HAL; The Adour engine has been developed by the joint venture company Rolls-Royce Turbomeca. -Shares of Rolls Royce at 1006 GMT down 8.5 pence or 1.4%, at 585 pence, valuing the company at GBP10.85 billion. -By Tapan Panchal, Dow Jones Newswires.
