Red Rock Resources says results from 35 hand-grab samples taken at the Macalder gossan body in Migori, Kenya, indicate "significant" grades of easily recoverable gold.Using the underground workings of local artisanal workers, the miner found 12 samples with 1-5 grammes per tonne of gold, 14 samples of between 5 and 20 grammes and one sample which yielded 35.8 grammes."The Macalder gossan body was not fully exploited during commercial mining of the deposit, and much of it remains in-place to this day," Red Rock said.Historical sections indicate that the body averages around 6m in thickness and extends to 30m depth. But the ground is in places unstable for access by drilling equipment, while the presence of underground workings carries the risk of equipment loss. "The body is worthy of further exploration effort and may merit a small open operation," sad the firm.
